Living Grace – Christian Science

About

Welcome to LiveGrace.com! It’s our prayer as you visit this site that you might catch a glimpse of what God’s grace is all about. Here’s a clue: It’s not about us! Blessings to you.

“To be sure, Christians are called to be a holy people,  set apart by their good works. This is what transforming love looks like as it takes hold of people. But this is not a reputation that we should seek to acquire or protect. The one reputation we are called to acquire is identical to  the one reality we are called to live in: We are to be, and to be known as, a people who receive and give love in an outrageous, impartial, unconditional way.” — Greg Boyd, in Repenting of Religion (2004, Baker Books).

Living grace. Sound easy? The problem with living grace is that it is often extremely difficult. I speak for myself when I say that my personality in its natural state is very ungracious, judgmental, and unloving. The only way I can live grace is for God to perform a miracle in my life and change me to be like himself.

The good news is that this is exactly what he desires more than anything. In fact, he urges me to  be transformed by the renewing of my mind. (Romans 12:2)

But the question is: Is this something I can do for myself? The answer is a resounding ‘No!’ He has already begun this amazing transformation in me, just as I am.  He is even now working in me and transforming me so that I can be just like Jesus.

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

The grace of God in our lives, renewing our minds, transforming our spirits, enables us to be loving, grace-filled people. Our world today needs grace-filled people . . . people who selflessly embrace the unlovable . . . people who give generously to those who can never repay . . . people who boldly reach out in love instead of judgment . . . people who know that God will do amazing things in their world and hope and pray that they can be a part of God’s incredible, dramatic, and awesome work.

God, Let this be me. This is my heart’s prayer.
